Citing research recently released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development along with the U.S. Census Bureau, My Northwest says that "sales of newly built, single-family homes rose 14.5 percent to 501,000 units in 2015, the highest level since 2007." In a strong end to 2015, the article says that "Sales increased in all four regions in December. The Midwest, West, Northeast and South all posted respective gains of 31.6 percent, 21 percent, 20.8 percent and 0.4 percent." The 21% increase in the West is impressive, particularly given a lack of new development projects in the pipeline in the greater Seattle area.
